PerkinElmer Podcast Series18 Feb

The Better ChroniclesThe creative team at Skyways is producing a series of podcasts for Life Sciences company PerkinElmer. “The Better Chronicles” showcases PerkinElemer products with real world stories of the how people’s lives have been positively impacted.

PerkinElmer has implemented many “new media” ideas in their marketing and communications plan and we’re proud to say we’ve helped guide them along!

Check out the latest episode of The Better Chronicles, “Early Detection of Pre-eclampsia“, where we discuss a common and sometimes dangerous health concern for pregnant women, called pre-eclampsia. Early detection of pre-eclampsia with a biomarker called placenta protein 13, or PP13, is an important development for human health today and may become a routine diagnostic tool in every pregnancy. Special guests are Dan Marshak, PerkinElmer senior vice president and chief science officer, and Dr. Harvey Kliman, a physician scientist at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and director of the Reproductive and Placental Research Unit at Yale.

You can also see how we’ve integrated the PerkinElmer Podcast series in iTunes.

Producing YouTube Video17 Feb

YouTubeWe’re often asked about producing video content so that our clients can host it on YouTube. Sure, we do that. There are some encoding considerations that we take into account so the video looks as good as it can on YouTube, but the truth is the newer high quality YouTube option does look good. And if you have a video that can really benefit by the viral nature of YouTube, then that is the place for you. Look at what it did for the blender guy!

The down side to YouTube is… the noise level is very high. There is a LOT of garbage there which you may not want your brand associated with. You have to ask yourself.. “Do I feel lucky?”  We still recommend that you do not put all your eggs in the YouTube basket. Eventually, they will ramp up the monetization of content on YouTube… your content. Do you really want to risk having an ad for a competing company play before your video.. just because the content was similar? Do you feel lucky? Well do you?

Legal Talk Network Success Story16 Feb

In 2005 we decided to start producing audio content for the legal community. We had lawyer clients from the video side of the business and it seemed as likely a place as any to start. Lawyers were natural for the part in hosting talk radio style shows.. after all that’s what happens in court, no? We had no financial model in place other than we knew a LOT about making money from traditional television and radio content. That is, selling advertising and producing programming. Why should this be any different?

The problem was – the cart and horse thing. We needed content. So we started producing shows on our own with no financial return. Lots of them. When we had thirty or forty in the can we now had something to show people.

About

In 1999 Lu Ann Reeb and Scott Hess from CBS Boston (WBZ-TV) had a vision for the burgeoning marketplace for video on the Internet. Even then, they knew that if corporate America expected to attract viewers and customers, new media content would be important. And now corporations cannot afford not to have a new media presence! So who better to produce new media than broadcast television professionals? Our team of producers, videographers, engineers, editors, and technicians consists of broadcast professionals who meet the high standard of quality expected in all of our projects.

In 2005, Legal Talk Network was launched, forging a B2B professional network for the legal community with timely legal podcasts hosted by lawyers and online video.

In 2008, Med Talk Network was launched in the same fashion with new media communications for the professional medical community.
